How to Use a Nicotine Mouth Spray

Nicotine mouth spray is prescribed for adults over 18 years of age.

Weeks 1 to 6:

  1. When you get a carving, sue 1 or 2 sprays. At the first take only one spray if you still get carving then take the second one.
  2. You can take 1-2 sprays for every 30 to 60 minutes.
  3. Take maximum 2 sprays at a time.
  4. Do not take more than 4 sprays at a time.

Recommended mouth spray use for adults aged 18 or over:

weeks 7 to 9:
Try to reduce the number of sprays each day. At week 9, you are suppose to have half the number of sprays compared to week 1 to 6.

weeks 10 to 12:
At the end of 12 weeks, you are not suppose to take more than 4 sprays in a day. Your treatment will be done, when you found yourself having 2 to 4 sprays in a day.

Things you have to follow during nicotine spray therapy

  • Do not eat or drink while using the mouth spray.
  • Try to release the spray under your tongue or inside of your cheek.
  • Do not inhale while spraying.
  • Inhaling may cause hiccups or burning sensation in the back of your throat.
  • Do not spray directly to your lips or throat.
  • Do not swallow for few seconds after spraying. Nicotine is supposed to be absorbed through the mouth lining.

It might take some time for you to be used to with the taste of nicotine spray.

Side effects of nicotine mouth spray

Incorrect use of nicotine mouth spray might drive to a number of side effects. You might experience burning, if you spray it directly to your throat or swallow it immediately after spray. You might have nausea, headaches, tingling/burning sensations, dryness of the mouth, indigestion and hiccups.
